2008 was an AWESOME year for The Dane Foundation. This year of growth and promotion was an "understanding" experience for us all. Here's just a taste of what we've accomplished!
Matt & Melanie White load their SUV Sleigh to deliver gifts to individuals with disabilities in our area!
The mission of The Dane Foundation is to address the unique needs of individuals with disabilities, single mothers, and senior citizens. Despite the economic troubles we have all experienced in 2008, The Dane Foundation continued to reach out to those in need in our community and, with your help, provided for more than 90 individuals/families in our area!
The holiday season started off bright with a donation of eight turkey's from a friend of The Dane Foundation. We were able to take those turkey's and combine them with all the dinner "fixins" that everyone enjoys each Thanksgiving. We were honored to deliver those complete meals to eight families in the area. Special thanks to our friend Tim in Texas, Vincent's Bakery and those that donated to our booth/Gift-ing Tree at the opening of the Cuyahoga Falls ice arena....together, we made these Thanksgiving meals possible!
Our Gift-ing Tree candy canes were plentiful this year with more than 200 items requested! More than 90 individuals/families received at least two items on their list this Christmas. It was a bit of a sad surprise to receive candy cane wishes for food this year. As always, The Dane Foundation's many friends came together and not only provided plentiful food baskets to all those who asked, but was also able to provide items from socks to sheets, toys to clothing, and toothpaste to towels to all those who asked. Thank you to the employees of Diebold Incorporated, Walsh College and the members of the Pucac-Shlup Bowling League and the Goodyear Ladies Bowling League who all came together to make donations of items and cash to purchase what was needed. Thank you to North / Legend Lanes in Cuyahoga Falls and Walsh College for hosting an actual "Gift-ing Tree" this year and to Diebold for offering our first "virtual" Gift-ing Tree. Both ways were very successful and helped us help those that needed us this holiday. Thank you!!!
